In a significant development for New South Wales' legal community, ABC Insurance has announced its entry into the professional indemnity (PI) insurance market, providing solicitors with an alternative to the longstanding sole provider, Lawcover.
This move introduces competition and choice for over 23,000 solicitors in the state, who have traditionally relied on Lawcover for their mandatory PI insurance.
ABC Insurance, led by entrepreneur David Sandig, aims to offer improved policy coverage and competitive pricing. The policies will be underwritten by Liberty Specialty Markets, a subsidiary of global insurer Liberty Mutual, known for its financial strength and expertise in professional indemnity insurance.
For solicitors, this development means the opportunity to compare offerings and select a PI insurance policy that best aligns with their practice's needs and budget. The introduction of competition is expected to drive innovation and potentially lead to more tailored insurance solutions for legal professionals in NSW.
As the legal profession continues to evolve, having multiple PI insurance providers can enhance service quality and responsiveness to the unique challenges faced by solicitors. This change underscores the importance of regularly reviewing insurance options to ensure optimal coverage and value.
